Hinds served as Chief Operating Officer of Ute Energy from February 2011 to November 2012. Hinds was responsible for running Ute’s upstream exploration strategy and drilled more than 100 operated wells during his tenure. In 2012, Hinds had an upstream capex budget of $275 million and was running two to three operated rigs. From June 2002 until February 2011, Hinds served in various capacities for Bill Barrett Corporation beginning as a Senior Geologist and ultimately serving as Vice President for the Uinta Basin. While with Bill Barrett Corporation, Hinds managed the development of both producing and exploratory plays in the Uinta Basin and was credited with the ‘Discovery of the Year for 2005’ by Oil & Gas Investor Magazine. Hinds prior experience includes work for Marathon Oil Corporation (Manager of Geology, Powder River Basin CBM Business Unit; 2001-2002), Pennaco Energy, Inc. (Manager of Geology; 1999-2001) and Barrett Resources Corporation (Exploration and Operations Geologist; 1993 to 1999). Hinds earned a B.S. in Geology from Louisiana State University in 1986 and an M.S. in Geology from Texas A&M University in 1990.
